Introduction

These Salted Caramel Bars were one of my recipes featured in the Sugarfree Living magazine, back in Autumn.

They are super easy to make and so lush to eat.

Delicious, buttery crisp base is covered in a thick layer of rich, salted caramel and then topped off with some decadent dark chocolate.

The fact that these are gluten free, grain free and sugar free will make them a winner at any afternoon tea party.

Go on, you know you want to.

Make them. Post them. Tag me.
Enjoy!

Ingredients

50 grams of almond meal
30 grams of sweetener of choice
50 grams of coconut flour
0.5 teaspoon of nutmeg
250 grams off almond butter
100 grams of coconut oil, measured solid
125 grams of Natvia Salted Caramel Sauce
2 teaspoons of vanilla
60 grams of dark chocolate (85% min)
30 grams of coconut oil
Sea Salt for garnish

Directions

Step 1
Pre-heat your oven to 180⁰ C
Step 2
Grease and line a 20cm square cake tin.
Step 3
Place the dry ingredients for the crust into a bowl and then melt the coconut oil.
Step 4
Pour oil into bowl and mix well until all combined.
Step 5
Pour into your prepared cake tin and press down firmly to create an even layer on the bottom.
Step 6
Bake for 10 minutes and then set aside to cool.
Step 7
Place all of the caramel ingredients into a saucepan and melt over medium heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and well combined.
Step 8
Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes before pouring it over your crust base.
Step 9
Place in the freezer for 30 minutes to set.
Step 10
Place chocolate and coconut oil in a small pot and melt over medium-low heat until smooth and fully combined.
Step 11
Pour over caramel and place in fridge for at least 30 minutes to set.
Step 12
Cut into 16 squares and sprinkle with sea salt before serving.
