I was a late bloomer when it comes to French toast.
I was in my 20’s before I ever ate a slice, and that was one that I’d made myself…really badly.
It was weirdly soggy, eggy bread that wasn’t pleasant at all.
So, I never really understood why it was so popular.
I mean, I knew that I’d failed spectacularly in my previous efforts but had never really turned my hand to it again.
Until now.
Using my 90 second bread recipe and a deliciously spiced soak, this French toast is soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy and golden on the outside.
NOW I get it!
I might have moaned a little bit when I bit into the first slice.
I had mine with a simple sugar-free syrup but I’m already imagining other toppings that I can pair with it.
